According to the WebCanvas site, WebCanvas is “the world’s largest collaborative painting.” Interesting idea, but I just don’t get it. The site allows users to draw and/or upload images to the “work of art.” The technology also makes it possible to watch other users painting in the same viewing area. WebCanvas evolved from GraffyWall which was “the first web site to allow users to draw directly onto a boundless WebCanvas simply using a web browser.”
WebCanvas is an interesting bit of technology. It works, albeit slowly for me. But I fail to find the usefulness of this technology. Maybe someone will clue me in someday…

1Just imagine that now you can draw directly onto a boundless space, without the need to install any software and make this drawing accessible by anyone anywhere!
Think of all the applications of a White Board, now imagine that you don’t have to swap sheets or erase it, you just drag to the side. Further more you can collaborate instantaneously with someone from across the globe.
There’s also the fact that this is a true What You See Is What You Get based on the drawing paradigm! Opposed to having to use some kind of text based forms/inputs/language, to introduce content onto the web. Can it get any simpler than this?! ( Imagin using a tablet&pen and this is like turning a webpage into a piece of paper )
With this tablet and pen, you can get anyone (from babies to grandpa) drawing on to the web straight away!
I hope this helped you understand a little bit more of the applications and usefulness…
