Jayham,

I know you'd love to think of me as an idiot pretending to be intelligent, but that's only because either:

1. You don't share my views.
2. You don't understand my perspective.

or

3. You're mad because I called you an idiot. Which I apologize for.

Whichever one is true, smile and know that it's the *internet* that allows you to freely express all 3 and actually DO something about it.

Without people, you have nothing in business. And instead of making villains out of the people that feed them, companies should be lending an ear.

Getting "outside the bottle" and seeing your business from the perspectives of the people that pull out their wallets is quite a refresher if you know where to start.

I understand that ReputationHawk does provide services within a topology that goes beyond what I mentioned above. But they still provide services for the internet - that complete disaster you speak of. And if I'm to adopt you're way of thinking, then why the hell should I find any substance in your reply...that you made on the internet...?

You should consider yourself lucky you have the right to participate in this comment posting. Or perhaps we should cap the thing up and handle it like North Korea?

I'm not taking an egocentric utopist position on the internet...I'm taking a practical one that I've worked within for the past decade, very successfully I might add. Next time you visit a website that "gets you," that's me and several others out there that've come to understand how people "work" on the internet.

Chris from ReputationHawk is one of those individuals that values what people say about his company. If he didn't, he wouldn't have posted in response. And look what he did? He took a potential negative perspective of his business, and turned it into an *opportunity* to educate others about it.

That's the difference between good businesses and bad ones on the internet. The good ones are able to turn a negative into a positive, just as Chris has done.

I apologize for calling you an idiot, especially now that I know you're a normal person (since you told me).

Hi Tim,

Most of our clients are mainly concerned with Google. The last time I checked the stats they controled about 58% of the search market while Yahoo took 24% and MSN 10%. Yahoo and MSN are actually easier to clean up because they highly favor new information. Google on the other hand likes a bit of the old and a bit of the new.

So in short Google is the most important and the most difficult in an IRM campaign.

Gauss,

Maybe your parents should have taught you some basic manners instead of letting you play house with your little sisters. The simple truth is humanity cannot be responsible with a gift as marvelous as the internet and we are quickly proving that. Let's face it there are three types of people in this world.

1) Idiots

2) Idiots pretending to be intelligent people (such as yourself)

3) Normal people (such as myself)

When you wake up you will realize that your utopist egocentric business babble makes little sense in real life and the internet is quickly becoming a mish-mash of crap served on beautiful china.

A forum this large without the slightest hint of accountability is proving to be a complete disaster.

Good point Gauss. Sometimes I come into contact with someone who simply needs to internally correct the issues that are at the root of the negative publicity. But then there are other circumstances where the business owner has no control.

For example, a guy who owns some local pet shops and he has been in business for over 20 years. Solid reputation, everyone in the area knows him, and he even offers a non questions asked refund policy. Suddenly he becomes the target of animal rights organizations who flood the internet with false reports, such as he sells dogs with diseases, inhumane conditions etc. All because his pet shops were added to some list.

Or the case of an disgruntled ex employee who goes on rants and lies on blogs and other open source sites about his former employer. Or the case of a man with the outdated allegation. When you Google his name court records appear showing that he was accused of money laundering. What the records do not show is the fact that he was later proved innocent. But when potential employers Google him they just assume that the allegations are true.

99% of these sites with the negative posts will not remove that information because as far as they are concerfend they will get more traffic if they keep it up. In those situations all they can do is fight the negative publicity with positive publicity in Google which is where we come in.

QUOTE: "It’s ridiculous that anyone can post anything they want to on the internet and get away with it. People should stop believing everything they read in Google. It’s all way to easy to manipulate."

Wow, Jayham you're a complete idiot! Apparently you have no embrace for the value of the internet to both companies and their consumers. 10 years ago, corporations and marketing firms were BEGGING for and were prepared to spend millions of dollars to acquire candid information from the world about how they perceive their products and services.

Now, when this information is public-domain and FREE, the SAME companies are showing disdain and contempt for the information they are receiving instead of making their products better.

The companies that NEED Reputation Hawk got a lot more fucking problems to address than websites on Google bashing their product. They'd better be spending their money on refining their business practices, ACCEPTING the fact that problems exist (and fixing them), and making people talk POSITIVELY about them.

The companies that don't get this idea through their thick and clueless skulls will die in the new marketing frontier.

Hi James,

Yes some of them do. Sites such as ROR are a large reason for the need of services like ours. Anyone can post a false report on ripoffreport and and if you ask ROR to remove it they simply won't. So, there is really no other answer other than burying those types of pages in the search results.
