Sony announced that the 20GB and 60GB PlayStation 3 models are being discontinued in Japan. Taking the place of both models in the 40GB model that was introduced in November 2007. The 40GB model supports backward compatibility with the PSone through software emulation, however the hardware required for PS2 compatibility is not in this model.
The 20GB model has already been discontinued in the US. No word on if the 60GB model will be gone from the US soon.
